All that I want is to walk in the sun with you Watch all the stars as they go to bed at night Please walk with me where the shadows of the setting sun Kiss the rising moon and light up our dark skies But the sun went down many moons ago It doesn't look like it's coming up soon I sign all my letters, "dear wistfully yours" with an aching heart Blue notes running through my veins I want you to know even raging seas find the morning calm When birds sing sunrise songs But the sun went down many moons ago It doesn't look like it's coming up soon But the sun went down many moons ago It doesn't look like it's coming up soon Let’s go on a holiday to serendipity city Get high on cotton candy, dance in the lilac grove But you only see silent empty birds' nests Shake in winter's wind, a prelude to our last hurrah?
2.
Every room has a beautiful view, all you have to do Is open up your arms and let the sunrise in your eyes Let magic moments shine through shadows of doubt Welcome melancholy, grow a poetic tree, let it blossom in your broken heart Meanwhile back at the ranch things aren’t going that well I been sipping too much sadness Smell the blossoms before you taste the fruit Dance with the devil before you feel the moonlight smiling through your darkness Embrace your failure, freely fall in the moment It's so much better to chase all your dreams than to live a life of regrets Meanwhile back at the ranch things aren’t going that well I been sipping too much sadness Every room has a beautiful view, all you have to do Is open up your arms and let the sunrise in your eyes And let the sunrise in your eyes And let the sunrise in your eyes

Tonight I tattooed a picture of the midnight sun over my heart To help you find your way back home Why is your aria always covered in blue? I got a Ferris wheel it soars so high we can touch the sky In the dawn of our dreams we rode the rails of the slow, slow train While sipping Sake and heading towards the rainbow We chased the fleeting colors with our open hearts and poetic souls We were so happy not knowing what we did not know Midnight sun shines day and night Midnight sun will be your guiding light When your mood is out of phase And you’ve been lost for days You lament your elusive prose all your coconuts have fled the grove Oh you feel forsaken by those fruitless trees And if you want to dance with the poetry of life you must accept The silence of failure as deeply as the roar of success When your demons pull on your weaker side and you are left all alone To face the great divide you must dig down deep inside I want you to know that me and your lovely smile Will always wait for you in the shadow of the midnight sun Midnight sun shines day and night Midnight sun will be your guiding light When your mood is out of phase And you’ve been lost for days Tonight I tattooed a picture of the midnight sun over my heart To help you find your way back home Way back home

She's made of spun glass But she's got a spine that's Made as strong as steel She's a ferocious counter-puncher But she always finds Another verse to rhyme She has the dark soul of a Greyhound Bus Yet she climbs the mountain Just to get to the other side But I remember those days When she wore her sundress Oh, her hair fell in a beautiful mess She's got a short fuse But she'll always be The only muse for me She keeps running on empty But she sure does savor Huge swigs of her chianti She is my dormant lover Sleeping with her gloom She lives alone with her doom in her cocoon But I remember those days When she wore her sundress Oh, her hair fell in a beautiful mess But I remember those days When she wore her sundress Oh, her hair fell in a beautiful mess Oh, her hair fell in a beautiful mess
5.
Don’t you let the darkness drag you down Dawn’s early light always comes around Just take it slow There’s still a long ways to go Don’t you burn your candle at both ends I don’t want for us to be just friends I’d be so happy To be so sad with you Maybe it's all those years That keep piling up on me I seem to shed a lot more tears When the leaves in Autumn disappear Every life is filled with some regrets Lots of coffee, lots of cigarettes I’m not a schemer But oh I’m such a dreamer Trying to find my way back to your heart Baby how about a brand new start Give me all your frowns And I’ll turn them upside down Maybe it’s all those years They keep piling up on me I seem to shed a lot more tears When the leaves in Autumn disappear Don’t you let the darkness drag you down Dawn’s early light always comes around Just take it slow There’s still a long ways to go Don’t you burn your candle at both ends I don’t want for us to be just friends I’d be so happy To be so sad with you Maybe it’s all those years They keep piling up on me No I don’t want to be free I want you to love me

Blank Pages 04:32
How many blank pages must I stare at Before my words start to flow I been humming this melody Over and over and over for so long The music slides easily into the groove Oh watch those dancers move But the words are stuck so deep in my heart Aching for a jumpstart I’ve seen a million geese fly away from the cold When the leaves grow old And the sun turns to gold The frost takes its first bite And steals away the night I long for those days when the words Leapt onto the page And the fire in my belly was all the rage Like a tiger just un-caged My vision was as clear as the cool night air And I worked without despair And the words took a chance and Danced and pranced all over the page I’ve seen a million geese fly away from the cold When the leaves grow old And the sun turns to gold And the frost takes its first bite And steals away the night The autumn trees shed their dead leaves And foreshadow winter’s freeze And Old Lang Syne said I’d run out of time And my words died on the vine So let us drink a cup of kindness For the times that have gone by How many blank pages must I stare at Before the words start to flow

Come upstairs where the heat always rises Come upstairs where the beat is slow and sultry Come upstairs where the heat always rises Away from the cold down here Come upstairs baby, to a kaleidoscope of maybes Let our passions crush our despair Under my bed, there’s a secret garden Oh, when we lie down, our hearts open and blossom Only love can put out the raging fire Burning in our dried up souls Come upstairs baby, to a kaleidoscope of maybes Let our passions crush our despair How can we trust rainbows and roses? Rainbows fade away, roses bow their heads and die Truth be told we can only feel the sunlight If we have felt the night Come upstairs baby, to a kaleidoscope of maybes Let our passion crush our despair

She sings as soulful As a lover’s lament And as truthful As a lonesome teardrop Let's chase the night Deep into the day What have we got to lose But those low down aching blues Maybe there'll be someday When your blues will fade away And all of your todays Will be free from yesterday Open your eyes Say hello to the sunrise And if you don't ask why Well, you and I, we can fly Let's go full throttle Drink the whole damn bottle And whatever follows We'll follow and follow and follow Maybe there'll be someday When your blues will fade away And all of your todays Will be free from yesterday Maybe there'll be someday When your blues will fade away And all of your todays Will be free from yesterday I don't know why

Sore Eyes 03:50
What a lovely sight for my sore eyes Oh yeah, when I saw you coming around the bend You were singing softly through your eyes No need to explain where, oh where you’d been Let me dream all your dreams, and sweat all your nightmares Don’t put out the fire, or we’ll freeze to death We will grow and grow so we’ll never grow old Oh yeah, then our afterglow will always flow We will roll and roll, and roll on and on Oh yeah, we won’t need a pageant or parade Let me dream all your dreams, sweat all your nightmares Don’t put out the fire, or we’ll freeze to death Nothing can kiss the truth as honestly as innocence Let us vow to die trying, never throw in the towel How about a little bit of ecstasy for us my dear? Oh yeah, no, no, no more agony Let me dream all your dreams, sweat all your nightmares Don’t put out the fire, or we’ll freeze to death What a lovely sight for my sore eyes Oh yeah, when I saw you coming around the bend Coming around, coming around, coming around, coming around the bend
10.
Just think if we could wrap up all our sorrows and ship them out to sea Just think if we could blow out all the candles and all our wishes would come true Just think if we could walk around inside of our dreams Just think if we could guzzle up ten thousand moonbeams But I understand why you let me go But baby please won’t you let me down slow But I understand why you let me go But baby please won’t you let me down slow I remember the dark cafés when the soft candlelight Would wink at us as it danced on our faces and whispered you lucky lovers Now I just bit into a brand new song, won’t you help me nudge it along I don’t ever want to be singing in a one-man band But I understand why you let me go But baby please won’t you let me down slow But I understand why you let me go But baby please won’t you let me down slow Your kindness can go a long, long way so please stay one more day And maybe that day can turn to two or three and we can just let it be But I see distance in your eyes, you already said goodbye But feed me some lines and tell me some lies, but please don’t make me cry But I understand why you let me go But baby please won’t you let me down slow But I understand why you let me go But baby please won’t you let me down slow Won’t you let me down slow Won’t you let me down slow

On the same day I lost my lover and my best friend On the same day my heart simply fell apart On the same day I cried because I lost My lover and my best, my lover and my best, my lover and my very best friend, oh How sad is the night sky without any stars, oh How sad is the rainbow whose colors have faded away, oh How sad is the darkness without any hope for light Without any hope, without any hope, without any hope for light, oh How sad is the sunset sinking into the sea, oh How sad is the flower wilting and dying of thirst, oh How sad is my teardrop with no one to dry my eyes, with No one to dry, with no one to dry, with no one to dry my eyes On the same day I lost my lover and my best friend My lover and my best, my lover and my best, my lover and my very best friend
12.
How will I ever find the break of day When you have taken all my sunshine away Guess I’ll take a deep dive into my soul Sing a dirge to beautiful loners Under the stars, I slept with God Oh, she was so damn beautiful I poured her a cup of moonlight We laid down softly in the pines Losing ourselves in the dark of the night Slugging it out with our fright Under the stars, I slept with God Oh, she was so damn beautiful I tried so hard, but failed even harder You cannot put out the fire If you are fanning all of the flames Will there ever be a break of day? Under the stars, I slept with God Oh, she was so damn beautiful
13.
It still hurts me after all these years Tears still flow, I can’t let go What, oh what else can I do Pour myself another drink When the bravado of youth Crumbles into middle age Find a balladeer to give you The goose bumps you crave Let yourself hang out at the edge of a cliff Pull your rip cord with all your might It is okay if it burns you out As long as it doesn’t burn you down When the bravado of youth Crumbles into middle age Find a balladeer to give you The goose bumps you crave It still hurts me, of course it does Tears still flow, of course they do What, oh what else can I do, Pour myself another drink, another drink, another drink
14.
Do you think you Can help me to lose All of my blues You know I’ve paid my dues Things are so bad I’m walking around Looking for my mind In the lost and found But dreamers like me Who live to be free Can’t really see The forest or the trees My life’s on a short fuse I feel so confused I don’t like life’s rules They’re only for fools But what can I do But take a romantic view I know life’s for two So baby where are you But dreamers like me Who live to be free Can’t really see The forest or the trees I know if I sigh It’ll just make me cry To myself I might lie Or else I could die But I’m not gonna cry I’m gonna give it one more try I’m gonna open up my eyes And see if I can fly I’m gonna open up my eyes And see if I can fly

Daddy was a bulldozer, mama tried to keep her pride The only thing I did was try and hide Way up in my tree house, deep down in my snow fort Transistor radio and me Lying on my back, staring up at the sky Simply trying to figure out why Oh daddy’s scream and mama's cry Children shaking in the night oh the silent screams and black and blues Oh kindred spirit where are you, oh kindred spirit please be true Oh kindred spirit I feel so blue; let me sing to you How could anybody steal the magic lantern Shining in a child’s eyes Leave them all alone throughout the cold, dark night Clinging on to their fright I hear the cries and whispers from a lost childhood Oh family veins they run deep And the blood it weighs heavy It soaks and it stains and it can’t be washed away Oh kindred spirit where are you, oh kindred spirit please be true Oh kindred spirit I feel so blue let me sing to you Oh kindred spirit where are you, oh kindred spirit please be true Oh kindred spirit I feel so blue let me sing to you Daddy was a bulldozer, mama tried to keep her pride The only thing I did was try and hide Oh way up in my tree house, deep down in my snow fort Transistor radio and me Yeah way up in my tree house, deep down in my snow fort Transistor radio and me, just my transistor radio and me
16.
Thinking of you and I am so blue Wondering what the heck I’m gonna do I woke up this morning and without any warning You packed all your bags and then you were gone I got my head in my hands, an empty wine bottle My mind’s going full throttle, and all of my dreams have been hung out to dry Yes, and I’m too blue to sigh Yes, and I’m too blue to cry Well the days they turned to weeks and the weeks they turned to years But I was not able to dry all my tears Then out of the blue there came a note from you Sayin’ you had settled down with somebody new I got my head in my hands, an empty wine bottle My mind’s going full throttle, and all of my dreams have been hung out to dry Yes, and I’m too blue to sigh Yes, and I’m too blue to cry Well I screwed up my courage and I bundled my heart And I set off to find me a brand new start I traveled the highways with my mind going sideways And I covered many miles but I went nowhere I got my head in my hands, an empty wine bottle My mind’s going full throttle, and all of my dreams have been hung out to dry Yes, and I’m too blue to sigh Yes, and I’m too blue to cry I got my head in my hands, an empty wine bottle My mind’s going full throttle, and all of my dreams have been hung out to dry Yes, and I’m too blue to sigh Yes, and I’m too blue to cry Well I was goin’ nowhere pretty damn fast So I gathered my things and went back to my home I poured me a stiff one and I lay on my back And I listened to Miss Peggy Lee sing the blues And I listened to Miss Peggy Lee sing the blues
17.
Baby I’m so sorry that your star has fallen down And all of your dreams have drowned Maybe you and I can go around one more time Even though Autumn’s in your eyes Dusk rolls in, its shadows oh, so grim Silent wind chimes always make me cry Nothing’s as poetic as living day to day Tender is the night that warms us with moonlight Black and whites they always turn out gray And the near is so, so far away Dusk rolls in, its shadows oh, so grim Silent wind chimes always make me cry Broken bones they often heal stronger But broken hearts simply fall apart Hope does not always spring eternal For those souls who lost their will to fight Dusk rolls in, its shadows oh, so grim Silent wind chimes always make me cry Baby I’m so sorry that your star has fallen down And all of your dreams have drowned Maybe you and I can go around one more time Even though Autumn's in your eyes Yeah, maybe you and I can go around one more time Even though Autumn’s in your eyes Yeah, even though Autumn’s in your eyes
18.
I'm turning the lights down low All alone watching the late-night picture show Our love is going, going, going, going gone I'm the sad character in an old torch song We used to ride the beat Deep into the night But you said I had too much soul And my passion was out of control So come on baby and how Take a huge swig of the now Stop chewing on your past ‘Cause yesterdays never last Let’s climb to the top of paradise hill And swallow a magical pill Drink a cup of free will And take a ride on this moment's thrill So why not give it a go With your late night bohemian beau What do we got to lose But those low-down aching blues So come on baby and how Take a huge swig of the now Stop chewing on your past ‘Cause yesterdays never last So why not give it a go With your late night bohemian beau
19.
My passport's expired And I'm feeling oh so tired I don't seem to want to Get around much anymore I never dreamed that I Would live a paint-by-number life A housewife, a couple of kids A mortgage and a Willie Loman job And oh how I long for my today's To become my yesterdays Now the kids have all grown up And my wife just said she's had enough of me So I shuffle around this old house Alone with my failures and shattered dreams Making promises to myself not to drink Until the sun goes down But these days go by so slowly And the night makes me wait so long for it to come And oh how I long for my today's To become my yesterdays I don't know why I gave up the paper and the pen I should have known better To follow the voices in my heart But the canvases in my mind's eye Never ever came to life And my words stopped flowing Many, many, many years ago And oh how I long for my today's To become my yesterdays Now the sun is sinking low And the whiskey makes me glow So I wax poetic: What are hearts for but to be broken What are hearts for but to be broken

Your hollow, vacant eyes Stare into nothingness Scorching the horizon With a burning loneliness You try and steal a kiss But kisses can’t be stolen No they can’t be plucked Like a blooming rose Even though you wanted to You could not love Too many weeping stars Drowned your youthful hopes Oh it is the saddest thing That I’ve ever seen When my melody maven Loses her will to sing After I died you came to know me Forty-one years too late, my dear I heard you read my musings and All of my poems And now you cry your plaintive plea You ache to die and it makes me cry The silence of your scream Is a thunderous howl Your bottled-up emotions Forever tied and bound Let me break the vacuum seal That surrounds your lonely heart Even though I’m gone I can come home in your dreams Your hollow, vacant eyes Stare into nothingness And scorch the horizon With a burning loneliness You try and steal a kiss But kisses can’t be stolen No they can’t be plucked Like a blooming rose After I died you came to know me Forty-one years too late, my dear I heard you read my musings and All of my poems And now you cry your plaintive plea You ache to die and it makes me cry Your hollow, vacant eyes Stare into nothingness And scorch the horizon With a burning loneliness You try and steal a kiss But kisses can’t be stolen No they can’t be plucked Like a blooming rose Like a blooming rose

In the early years we puddle-jumped through life Skated on thin ice, slept under a blanket of moonlight You sang me lovely, blue ballads We were so god-damned addicted to the night How the hell did we buy into Oh, that big, bold lie of the Great American Dream Now the kids have gone, they’ve gone their own way It's just you and me, a cold, dark night and starless sky So many regrets, should of’s, and could of’s and would of's We just shrug our shoulders, our memories snap, they crackle and pop How the hell did we buy into Oh, that big, bold lie of the Great American Dream Embers turn to ashes, and the ashes grow so cold We are as restless as thunder in a raging summer storm It's getting close to closing time Soon we'll sail away with the slow, slow, slow morphine drip How the hell did we buy into Oh, that big, bold lie of the Great American Dream In the early years we puddle-jumped through life Skated on thin ice, slept under a blanket of moonlight You sang me lovely, blue ballads We were so god-damned addicted to the night God-damned addicted to the night God-damned addicted to the night
22.
It is a shame, children have to pay When daddy had another bad day All his rage takes center stage When daddy has another bad day Sunsets and old photographs always fade away But never ever bad, bad, bad daddy days It is a vicious cycle to break cause Daddy’s daddy had bad days too Fear runs so deep, children cannot sleep When daddy has another bad day Sunsets and old photographs always fade away But never ever bad, bad, bad daddy days After the storm when daddy lost his head Broken children lay frozen in bed Lying in a pool of fright, another storm tonight Oh, daddy will have another bad day Sunsets and old photographs always fade away But never ever bad, bad, bad daddy days It is a shame, children have to pay When daddy has another bad day When daddy has another bad day Yeah daddy has another bad day
23.
Stop trying to romance the ruins Of our war-torn relationship You sift through the ashes of the past And you try and rewrite all the facts Of our long and twisted years together Now you try and surface ancient relics As a monument to our love But the old dried up rose That you pressed between two pieces of glass Has been dead as long as our love Open wounds they hurt so much They are so tender to the touch Why oh why did you have to lie When you just could have said goodbye I cannot sing a song That’s not been swimming around in my head That doesn’t drench all of my senses That doesn’t scream from my body and my soul That doesn’t take its beat from my heart I gave all myself to you in love Just like I do when I sing a song But you left me all alone for so long And now my songs have all gone silent And my heart can’t find its way to the beat Open wounds they hurt so much They are so tender to the touch Oh why oh why did you have to lie When you just could have said goodbye Oh why oh why oh why did you lie When you just could have said goodbye
24.
What I remember most about making love with you Is not just your passion my dear What I remember most is how tenderly you held me in your arms Many moons ago when our love began to grow We lay down anywhere, anytime Oh the bugles rang and our love aromas lingered in the air Do not fear my dear that Winter is so near Even falling stars still twinkle in the sky And blue notes cry both bitter and sweet tears Even doubting Tom’s still dance inside their dreams Shadows are growing long and we hear the Autumn song All we have to do is sing along Do not worry if we can’t dance as deep into the night The last stop is not the end of the line As long as poetry is keeping time Old trees grow new branches and lovers never stop taking chances Do not fear my dear that Winter is so near Even falling stars still twinkle in the sky And blue notes cry both bitter and sweet tears Even doubting Tom’s still dance inside their dreams What I remember most about making love with you Is not just your passion my dear What I remember most is how tenderly you held me in your arms What I remember most is how tenderly you held me in your arms
25.
Babe I’m coming home, way before sunset Pour me a beer, and let down your hair Put on your red pumps, with that little black dress Let’s tear off the roof of this town tonight Whisper in my ear, we have nothing to fear, hold me tight tonight Whisper in my ear, we have nothing to fear, hold me tight tonight Feel the groundswell, hear the freedom bell Fly away with me from the gates of Hell Trust that it will end as sweet as it began Smoke a bowl of hope, hear that swinging Jazz band Whisper in my ear, we have nothing to fear, hold me tight tonight Whisper in my ear, we have nothing to fear, hold me tight tonight Darkness drips its blackness without empathy The shades of my soul are so tightly drawn Yet a ray of light is shining in my heart A quantum of hope is knocking at my door Whisper in my ear, we have nothing to fear, hold me tight tonight Whisper in my ear, we have nothing to fear, hold me tight tonight Let’s go and lose it, but let’s not lose it all Pack a small suitcase with our big, bold dreams If the door should close, bust open another Love is like art, the journey never ends

Summer skies, Your beautiful eyes Baby please, No more goodbyes Oh, I’m dancing with the daisies Playing with the sunshine And making love Deep inside my mind, oh, I’m Whispering to the breeze I’m making love with the trees Oh, I am so damn easy to please I wear my heart All over my sleeve Just waiting for someone To believe in me But why can’t the light? Kiss the dark, dark night And simply melt away The urge to fight Oh, I’m chasing all my pipe dreams Eating chocolate ice cream And singing to the jukebox with Elvis and the Jailhouse Rock. Oh, I’m Whispering to the breeze I’m making love with the trees Oh, I am so damn easy to please Hopeless romantics, they Bathe in candlelight To wash away their sorrow And hope for tomorrow But even the darkest nights Find some morning light Oh, sweet agony I'm down on one knee But maybe oh just maybe Oh, who am I to say? The sun might shine In my heart someday, oh, I’m Whispering to the breeze I’m making love with the trees Oh, I am so, damn easy to please Summer skies Your beautiful eyes Baby please Don’t you say goodbye

I can see you looking at me And you can see me looking at you You boil some water for your tea I watch you wipe the sleep from your eyes We read our newspapers, and sip our tea Alone and lonely as Edward Hopper’s nighthawks This rear window romance, it’s got me in a trance It’s a heady cerebral love yet it fits just like a glove And we listen to our silent love song It is a silent love No intimate whispers, just rear window glimpses Window shades silhouette our moods With shades of light and shades of dark Candlelight means let's lie down And touch our hearts with our minds This rear window romance, it’s got me in a trance It’s a heady cerebral love yet it fits just like a glove And we listen to our silent love song You light a candle I put on Chet Baker My perfume floats across the alleyway to you You slip off your gown, beam me into your arms And I hold you tight with my vivid imagination Yet our bodies tremble with a quiet desperation ‘Til our faraway caresses soothe all our fears Goodnight, goodnight my love Goodnight, sleep tight my love
29.
I can feel the breeze swirling in the trees It is so easy to lay my eyes on you Dreams can come true if you can catch Twinkling stars in your lover's eyes Body heat it feels oh, so sweet Just like walking down Bourbon Street Oh, it does feel so damn good To let the day to day simply slip away And take a walk along the promenade Sipping lemonade lost in our parade Body heat it feels oh, so sweet Just like walking down Bourbon Street I can feel the beat under my feet Say goodbye to your silent Spring Please listen to all the Robins sing No need to live so deep inside your blues Body heat it feels oh, so sweet Just like walking down Bourbon Street I can feel the breeze swirling in the trees It is so easy to lay my eyes on you Dreams can come true if you can catch Twinkling stars in your lover's eyes In your lover's eyes

Joey loved the rodeo with one arm wavin’ to the sun The other hangin’ on for dear life Joey was at the top of his game, the undisputed bronco King A beautiful wife, three kids, and a pickup truck Bales of wheat flowing like a rush of gold, square dance halls overflowing With fiddlers and dancers do-si-do-ing One day it all came crashing down, black blizzards ravaged the prairie Turning daylight into darkness In the graveyard of illusion, don’t expect any exit signs Lost souls wander in a sea of dust The whole damn town has turned to rust Joey’s chip crumbled off his weary shoulder When the bank foreclosed his house, he no longer has his kids or spouse Gone is the ocean of golden wheat fields, all that’s left are ghost towns Howling winds and aimless tumbleweeds In the graveyard of illusion, don’t expect any exit signs Lost souls wander in a sea of dust The whole damn town has turned to rust Joey headed to the Greyhound station Bought a ticket to the rising sun, fell asleep with his sunglasses on Just like Ratso in Midnight Cowboy, the lights went out before Miami Joey finally found a shred of peace Joey finally found a shred of peace Joey finally found a shred of peace

I can’t explain why I still feel the flame Even though it burned out so many years ago I still remember your lavender and love Long before you left me for the dark side of your soul I found a river that flows in three-four time Let’s dance on the river, live in the sublime I love the foreplay of gentle twilight As it hurtles into pitch-black cravings of the night Ya can’t enjoy today if you live for tomorrow Don’t let voices in your head stalk you with your own shadow I found a river that flows in three-four time Let’s dance on the river, live in the sublime Saddle up your sorrow, ride into the light Let me spin your world, summon the sun for you Life is just my day job, not my heart’s desire I could spend my lifetime chasing after your sweet dreams I found a river that flows in three-four time Let’s dance on the river, live in the sublime I can’t explain why I still feel the flame Even though it burned out so many years ago I still remember your lavender and love Long before you left me for the dark side of your soul I found a river that flows in three-four time Let’s dance on the river, live in the sublime

Supine 03:23
It feels so fine You and I lying supine With our legs entwined Knocking down a bottle of wine Oh, yeah it feels divine Just you and the wine For a long, long, long time Tonight, we parked All of our fears Wiped away our sad tears Drank several cups of cheer And held each other dear Oh, each sip we savored ‘Til the last drip Your lovely smile Keeps me going all the while Staring up at the sky Watching the birds fly Our hearts keeping time With one another’s rhyme And everything felt oh, so fine One, two three Two, two three Three, two three Our dance is a lovely trance It feels so fine You and I lying supine With our legs entwined For a long, long time

Dry Soul 04:02
After all is said and done, we had a pretty good run We had our ups and downs but we found some common ground We wore our fingers to the bone, just to make ends meet Our life was bittersweet The mortgage is paid in full; we get by on our pensions The kids still live nearby and the grandchildren seldom cry I can still pin the tail on the donkey and finish the three-legged race At the Topsfield County Fair But long ago I left home with my book of poems A bottle of wine and one hell-of-an open mind In Autumn's early twilight Venus shines so bright Silent we sit and listen to the night Sometimes I sigh a little too loud, you turn your gaze to me It’s too late to be free At the end of the day, there’s not too much to say How was your day, not bad, how about yours? I guess that I’m restless in a permanent way Sparring with my demons every single day But long ago I left home with my book of poems A bottle of wine and one hell-of-an open mind Yeah, one hell-of-an open mind What happened?

I've been gone oh for so long And everything it feels so wrong I miss the honeysuckle and the autumn leaves that rustle And the lazy hazy days of summertime The light in the middle of my darkness fades And I'm left alone to play life's charades Oh but to live my life without regrets And get a chance to place another bet You and I we thought we could fly To the moon and dance away the night All of my life I've fought to survive But oh how I long to thrive I want to rewind my memories and edit out the bad scenes And play back the good ones in slo mo My life's a battlefield yet there is no war Yet doubt keeps rapping at my door The powerbrokers muse about their next move Oh I wish I had something to prove You and I we thought we could fly To the moon and dance away the night Let us jump on oh any old bandwagon Oh can you just imagine What have we got to lose Maybe it'll chase away the blues Let us go and find a brand new map Oh, maybe we can find our way back ‘Cause I miss the honeysuckle and the autumn leaves that rustle And the lazy hazy days of summertime You and I we thought we could fly To the moon and dance away the night You and I we thought we could fly To the moon and dance away the night To the moon and dance away the night

The day that you left me you told me to go Into my studio and paint away my pain So I picked up my brush and I stared at my canvas While waiting for my muse to stir my creative juice But the light went dark and all my juices froze And all the open doors they started to close Frozen juices dreams of a makeshift noose, A psychedelic ghost and a big blank canvas So I jumped on the whiskey train, as it whistled a lonely refrain Empty canvasses rolling around in my brain I’m gonna ride deep into the night Pass through the tunnel and hope to find some light But the night did not slip into the day So I still had nothing at all to say So I built an iron fort surrounded by a molten moat To drive away my demons and to keep me afloat Frozen juices dreams of a makeshift noose, A psychedelic ghost and a big blank canvas Last stop, last stop it’s the end of the line I still can’t find my rhyme and I’m all out of time So I'll take a walk around inside of my dreams And hope that life is not what it seems So I'll take a walk around inside of my dreams And hope that life is not what it seems

Gypsy lady’s all decked out in a One-bare shoulder dress Spontaneity’s in her eyes In a come-hither smile She came from the badlands where Nothing grew but the hole in her heart She's achin’ for salvation to feel love's last mile Oh my dear, let’s fly our kite into the eye of the hurricane Gypsy lady told me  It's time to hibernate To acclimate our souls To a still life of death Deep down in our snow cave Cuddled up with our stash Of wild berries and nuts and Tequila-drenched poetry Oh my dear, let’s fly our kite into the eye of the hurricane Hark the harbinger  Woodpeckers a drummin’ Robin's singing in the rain Daffodils sipping sunlight Our endless sleep interrupted By the sweet smell of Spring Another year to forage Chestnuts and love Another year to forage Chestnuts and love Chestnuts and love

Some these days, gonna miss your honey Some these days, I am going away Some these days, gonna miss your honey I know you're gonna miss me, by my going away Some these days, you're gonna be sorry Some these days, I am going away Some these days, gonna miss your honey I know you're gonna miss me, by my going away You will never know what your friend might say, by your going away You will miss me, upon returning You will miss me, by my going away You will miss me, oh lordy miss me, I know you're gonna miss me, by my going away You will never know what your friend might say, by your going away You will miss me, upon returning You will miss me, by my going away You will miss me, oh lordy miss me, I know you're gonna miss me, by my going away
